Point of Rocks Model Railroaders obtained its name from the historic railroad landmark in Prescott, Arizona, known as “Point of Rocks.”

Point of Rocks is located in the Granite Dells area just north of Prescott Arizona.

It was the junction of two 1890s historic railroads: The Santa Fe, Prescott, and Phoenix Railway which ran from Seligman through Ash Fork, and on to Phoenix, and the Prescott and Eastern Railway which ran from Point of Rocks to Mayer.

Point of Rocks Model Railroaders’ mission is to:

1. Create and display dioramas of significant features associated with the historic railroads in the State of Arizona,

2. Educate the community about Arizona’s historic railroads through displays, seminars, and presentations, and

3. Educate the community about the arts and sciences of model railroading.

The last train out of the Prescott Depot on Sept. 22, 1983.
